Family Friendly
The church was well attended with what seemed to be a good mix of generations represented in the pews. The music was well done but traditional only and the music director afterwards indicated that because of the older people in the congregation that traditional music was the only style that they really do with only a couple of exceptions throughout the year. I'm surprised at that given the generational mix in the congregation so I suspect that it is more to do with his own preference or a preference from some of the choir but I could be mistaken. He referred to contemporary praise music as a "hootenanny" and seemed to believe that you had to have drums and guitars to play it not realising that you can do contemporary praise music with just a keyboard or piano. They still wear the old traditional robes which is a put-off for me personally. There does not seem to be a vision for the way forward, only looking back. I'm looking for a church that does a blend of old traditional music and contemporary praise music which I believe bridges the gap between tastes and generations and I'm looking for a church that has a vision for the future while still respecting some of the old.
